Update on whats been going on lately.

Fall Break we went with Tiff and her kids to miniature golf. The kids had lots of fun. Afterwards Britt and Madi played the Dance Dance Revolution and did a great job! Brooke and Abby drove the motorcycles. Then we went for ice cream. Yum. We had a fun time, we always like to hang out with them.
Nate had a halloween party for school and they were not allowed to wear masks. Well his costume the mask makes it all. So instead we painted his face. It turned out pretty good I think. He was happy and that is what counts! They had a spook alley and fun games and lots of yummy food. Lots of fun!!
Saturday we went to our Mainstreet trick or treat. You trick or treat at the businesses. They almost all have someone stand in front of their business to hand out candy to the kids. I took Nate and Brooke and they got lots of candy! They even handed out full size candy bars to the moms! Woo hoo! It was so nice with the weather and we had a good time. Pres and Andrew were at the BYU game and they kept sending me pics of the game and updating me on the score. I missed being at the game. We are going to buy more seats this next year so we can take more kids with us. They had a good time and even got sunburned on one side! And best of all we won!! After they got home we just relaxed and got ready to go to Derik's First birthday party. Sarah was having a Halloween theme party for him. She wanted people to dress up so we did. There was a lot of people there from both sides of their families but it was fun. The kids got to decorate cookies, and they had lots of food and treats. The best part was watching Derik eat his own cake. He was soo cute! Grandpa got a new bike and guess who we saw riding it? The Mad Hatter! What a cool pic! What a great first birthday Derik!

Back Pain

Britt waiting for results....
Britt's x-ray of her spine....doesn't look too good!

Brittany has been complaining of back aches the last month, so I took her to our doctor to have her checked out. Well last school year she had a scoliosis screening at school and the nurse called me that day and told me that Brittany's one shoulder is lower than the other one. She said she might be from her carrying her back pack or bags on her one shoulder, or scoliosis and she doesn't need to see a doctor unless she starts having problems with it. So with her back aches I really wanted to have her seen for this. Our doctor did a really good check up on her and even showed me her spine and marked it for me to see it. He said she definately needs to have x-rays to see how bad her spine is. One good thing is that her legs are the same length, and usually one will be longer than the other. So that is good. He sent us over to the hospital to have some x-rays of her spine. We didn't have to wait which was so nice!! We had to take 2 sets of x-rays as the technician put the first ones on the wrong computer, we waited for him to put them in the right computer. He showed us the x-rays and said he has seen worse ones. It looked yucky to me!! So now we have to go see a Orthopedic doctor up at Primary Childrens Hospital in December. We have been reading up on it and it seems Britt's isn't too bad right now. Her degree is 23, and from what we have read it they usually put braces on at 25 degrees, and possible surgery at 40 degrees. So I hope she never needs the back surgery!! From what I have read girls in their puberty years will show the signs of scoliosis as they are growing so much. So it is only really treatable while they are growing. So if she has to wear a brace it will only be while she is growing, so maybe 2 years at the most. I don't really know until we talk to the doctor. If she has to wear a brace it will have to be on for 23 hours a day. They make them so you don't really see them under tight clothing so that is good. She is worried about that. It will keep her back from not getting any worse. Once she is done growing she will not need it anymore. Girls get this more often than boys, so please make sure you have your girls checked at their schools or doctors when they hit their puberty years! I almost didn't make her get checked at school as you need to sign a permission slip for them to be checked. She didn't want it done but I told her we should. I am so glad I signed that slip and got her checked!! I would feel terrible if we had not done it. We may have not caught it and it could have gotten worse. Wish her good luck for the doctors appointment in December!!

Congratulations Andrew!!!

Andrew has been named The Student Of the Month for his high school. We are so proud of him and his hard work. He is suppose to be in a newspaper but I have to call the school and find out when so I can get some copies of it. I tried to go get a pic of him next to the student of the month thing by the office with his picture but he wouldn't let me. So I will just have to wait till I figure out the newspaper thing. I just want to tell Andrew again how proud we are of him and all of his accomplishments he has made in school. He is taking really hard classes this year and is getting excellent grades as usual. He is well on his way to be what he wants to be in life!! Love ya Andrew and congrats again!!!

Brittany's wonderful weekend away to the Shakespeare competition.

2008 SHAKESPEARE TEAM
Britt with Juliet.

Britt is on the Shakespeare team this year and they got to go compete at the Shakespeare competition in Cedar City at SUU. They left early friday morning at 5am. They have been practicing every day afterschool until the day they left for the competition. Now that is a lot of dedication and hard work. They loaded up the buses at 5 and were off to Cedar City!!

They arrived at 9am. They had to go right to the opening ceremony on the campus. After they were done with that they had to get ready for their dance performance. So they put on their makeup, and waited for their turn. Britt and her group performed "the Kubuki dance" . They did a really good job and the judges gave them all good comments on it. After they performed they were able to go to lunch. Britt and a friend went to a place called T-Bird Grill. She said it was good food and was cheap! They still had on their makeup and everyone was looking at them. Now was the time to go get all this makeup off. They had to scrap it off and scrub hard. It took forever and Britt describe the makeup as CEMENT!! When they were done Britt still had green eyebrows and her friends face was sooo red!! Here is a pic of their group for the Kubuki dance. And a pic of Britt with her face painted.

They now had to get ready for their Ensemble. This time her hair had to be gray. She plays an old grandpa. They performed very well. Here is a pic of the group for her Ensemble and a pic of her gray hair.

They are now done competing for the day and they head to their hotel finally! They all get checked in and get their rooms and keys. They had 4 people per rooms. Britt was with her friends. Kambrie helped wash all the gray out of her hair which was hilarious she said. They all got ready and were suppose to be on the bus to go to dinner. Britt ran back to the room for a min so Kambrie could get something. When she got back on the bus she realized she didn't have her wallet. She had 50 dollars and was just sick. She texted me and I was sad as I couldn't do anything to help her. So her friend Kambrie said she would buy Britt's dinner and she could pay her back if she found her wallet. She didn't have time to go look for it then. Britt and her friends wanted Panda Express. We love Panda and she took a pic of her and her dinner and texted it to us saying I bet you are jealous!! She is soo cute! When they were done eating they walked over to Walmart. They decided to play the game "20 things to do while bored at walmart". They could only remember 3 things on the list so they did them. Here they are....1- Randomly put boxes of shoes in other peoples carts. Only one guy saw them do this. 2- Her friend Kara went into a dressing room and yelled "hey there is no toilet paper in here" 3- Whenever someone would talk on the intercom they would huddle in pile on the floor and say "oh no not those voices again!" I guess they had fun at walmart! They bought a humongo bag of "Sour Warheads" they ate them all night and the next day until their tongues hurt so bad. There were 175 warheads. Here is a picture of Kara, Britt, and Sondra sitting with Ronald McDonald at walmart.

They then got back on the buses to go to the hotel. When Britt got back she searched for her wallet and couldn't find it. She picked up her suitcase to put it away and it was against the back of her suitcase laying on the bed. She was so releaved! So was I. They went swimming at the pool and then got a big group of friends to come back to their room and played games until 11pm. Curfew. The teachers and parents taped crepe paper and tape to the outside of the doors to make sure nobody went out after curfew!! Great idea!! The roommates stayed up till 1am talking. At 6am they got a wake up call from Mrs. Poulsen. They ate at the hotel and got ready. They had to check out this morning as they would not be back before check out time. They headed back to campus to the 1st round of monologues. After that they got to attend some workshops. Britt and her friends wanted to go to an improv workshop but got totally lost. They finally found a teacher and they went back to watch the 3rd round of monologues. It was time for lunch and they ate on campus at a buffet. Britt said it was yummy. Next they watched her friends perform their hip hop dance. When everyone was done the teachers took them to ice cream to celebrate all their hard work. It is an ice cream shop in Cedar City. They have this humongous bowl of ice cream for 42 dollars. They bought 2 of these bowls for all the kids. They consisted of the following: 42 scoops of ice cream 24 toppings, and 12 different sprinkles, there were 2 of these bowls. Britt said it was sooo good and she wants to take us here when we are down her again. They all got their names on the wall for finishing all the bowls of ice cream. Britt only took a pic of the finished bowl, too bad we dont have a before pic too.

So after all that ice cream what is next? Dinner of course! Britt and friends decided on Subway. This is hilarious as Britt didn't know how to order a foot long sandwich. She got up to her turn and said"ummm what do I want Sondra?" Her friend helped her order. Thankfully! She didnt know what to tell the lady when she asked what kind of bread she wanted....funny she didn't know they had different breads. What would she do without her friends? After dinner they went to the Awards ceremony. Brittany and her group won 2nd place for their KUBUKI DANCE. They were so excited. There were schools from all over the state! Good job Britt!! I am so proud of her! They had other winners and some individual winners from monologues too.

They left Cedar City at 10:30 and arrived back home at 1:30 am. She was tired and not feeling too well half way through the night. She had a lot of fun and loved performing. She is very good at this. I can't wait to see the performance for myself. They perform wednesday night for family and friends. Glad you had fun Britt and I am glad you texted me throughout your trip to keep me updated on all the fun you had! I love you and am very proud of you!!!
